Federal Engineering Selected by El Dorado Hills Fire Department for Emergency Communications Center Assessment and Design

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, February 24, 2020 — El Dorado Hills Fire Department in Northern California has chosen Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) to conduct an analysis of existing regional Emergency Communications Centers, identify the strengths, weaknesses, and capabilities of different options and make a recommendation as to what would be the best for the Department.

Deputy Chief Dustin Hall, the Project Manager for the Department said: “The community of El Dorado Hills is located in western El Dorado County, located on the county line of El Dorado and Sacramento Counties. The Department is an independent California Special District that provides fire and emergency medical services to a portion of the unincorporated area of El Dorado County. The Department responds to over 5,400 requests for service from six fire stations, covering approximately 112 square miles and serves an estimated population of 50,000 people. The Department provides fire suppression, emergency medical, paramedic ambulance transport, technical and water rescue, fire prevention, hazardous material response, and public education services to a predominately suburban community as well as large rural areas.”

Deputy Chief Hall continued: “Our intent was to hire a radio engineer and dispatch center consultant that could offer the highest quality service at the lowest overall cost to the Department. Very few firms have experiences in both these technologies. We solicited proposals from multiple firms and selected Federal Engineering based upon the firm’s capabilities and extensive experience in California. FE demonstrated in depth knowledge of our unique needs and circumstances and we will rely upon the firm throughout this project.”

Mr. Rajit Jhaver, FE Director, provided a brief summary of the engagement: “This project will encompass a broad range of public safety mobile radio and PSAP systems. We will meet with County personnel and first responders to understand their needs, assess existing systems, and deliver a written analysis of our overall findings including recommendations.”
