CityScape Consultants Teams with Federal Engineering to Win Bedford Wireless Project

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, December 2, 2019 — The Town of Bedford, New York has selected the Team of CityScape Consultants, Inc. (CityScape) and Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) for a study of the Town’s Emergency Service and Wireless Telecommunications Infrastructures and to generate a Wireless Master Plan.

Ms. Susan Rabold, CityScape’s Project Manager stated: “We are excited to embark on this collaboration as our Team provides one of the broadest skillsets in wireless consulting. No other firm can match the combination of CityScape’s background assisting municipalities navigate the complexities of the ever-changing telecommunications industry and the assessment of wireless infrastructure and FE’s nationwide history of public safety communications consulting. We will be working with the Town addressing the gaps of service coverage and capacity and developing creative solutions to increase emergency radio and wireless services in underserved areas while keeping with the Town’s priority of preserving preferred aesthetics, property values and the historical nature of the community.”

Mr. Travis LePage, FE Director, provided a vignette of the project: “A reliable infrastructure must be available to all emergency services personnel. Bedford is seeking a creative public/private partnership solution for increasing current service offerings including emergency radio service and overall cellular coverage and improving capacity issues throughout the Town. Our Team will work in cooperation with members of the Town of Bedford’s Wireless Facility Working Group and develop a Master Plan as well as assist in the process of Master Plan implementation. In performing this project in collaboration with CityScape, our Team will:

  • Complete a needs assessment including evaluation and study of the current state of the Town’s emergency radio system including coverage and capacity capability/deficiencies
  • Conduct the study and assessment of the current commercial wireless deployment activities in the Town including projections for future wireless deployments
  • Compile both findings into a comprehensive Emergency Service and Wireless Telecommunications Infrastructure Master Plan

The final Wireless Master Plan will deliver the current wireless overview throughout the Town and practical recommendations that the Town can follow and implement.”
