City of Albany Awards Federal Engineering Public Safety Exercise Contract

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, November 4, 2010 — The City of Albany, New York, on behalf of the Urban Area Security Initiative Capital Regions Urban Area Working Group, has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a consulting contract for Tactical Interoperable Communications Plan (TICP) exercise development and evaluation services. Under this contract, FE will develop both a table top exercise and a full scale exercise for a combination of UASI MSA counties in the Capital Region.

Assistant Chief Anthony Bruno of the Albany City Police Department described the program: “Federal Engineering will manage, organize, direct, and execute all aspects of the table top and full scale exercise including the coordination of multi-agencies and multi-jurisdictions. FE will then evaluate performance during the exercises and provide recommendations relating to the TICP and general operations. Gaps in local and regional planning, capabilities, leadership, governance, protocols, and first responder skills will be identified and suggested improvements identified by FE.”

“Federal Engineering has conducted similar exercises for other jurisdiction in New York State. We are familiar with the local environment and the unique circumstances facing local first responders,” stated Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President. “Federal Engineering employs both former first responders and communications engineers. This unique combination of specialized expertise has proven invaluable in recommending improvements to public safety and emergency field operations as well as radio communications equipment operations.”

Federal Engineering provides a wide range of technical and management services in public safety involving VHF, UHF, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz and 4.9GHz communications systems. FE also assists in the design and implementation of PSAPs, ECCs, and EOCs.

As a nationwide communications systems planning and design firm, Federal Engineering develops voice, data, and video networks for a wide range of end users, including organizations in the aerospace, energy, finance, education, publishing, and computer services fields. In addition to its private sector work, FE has completed hundreds of communications projects for 30 state governments, as well as numerous local and federal government clients.
