Ashtabula County Awards Federal Engineering Communications Center Consulting Contract

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, November 27, 2017 — Ashtabula County, Ohio has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc.

(FE) a contract to assess various funding models for Emergency Communications Centers.

Mr. Mike Fitchet, Director of Ashtabula County EMA, said: “A crucial element of a successful emergency center consolidation is establishing the funding mechanisms. Federal Engineering will work with the County decision makers and stakeholders to develop up to five viable funding models for a consolidated emergency communications center. The three primary cost categories are:

  1. Planning costs
  2. Operational and capital transition costs
  3. On-going operational costs after consolidation

Fair and equitable cost sharing solutions must be determined as part of the transition planning and are an essential component of our governance agreements.”

Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President and CEO, stated: “Ashtabula County will benefit from the experience we have gained over the past three decades with similar projects. FE will compile the data regarding the County’s current environment and provide expert analysis. We will use our industry knowledge and experience to define five diverse funding models and discuss how Ashtabula County could apply each of those models to their Communications Center. Complete description of each viable model will be provided with benefits and roadblocks for each enumerated. We will support the County decision process to arrive at the optimum model.”
