Washoe County Awards Federal Engineering Land Mobile Radio Consulting Contract
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, April 23, 2018 — Washoe County, a growing region located in northwest Nevada, has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to provide project management and technical support during contract negotiations with the selected vendor for a new Land Mobile Radio (LMR) network.
Mr. Quinn Korbulic, Ph.D., IT Manager, Regional Services and the Washoe County Project Manager, stated: “Federal Engineering has been providing communications consulting to Nevada jurisdictions since 1994. FE will provide the county with experienced contract negotiations support. Because of their dealings with radio system vendors on a regular basis, they have insights into vendors’ negotiation methods and practices and can assist us in resolving differences.”
Mr. Chuck Hnot, FE’s Vice President, provided a vignette of the Washoe County project: “The FE project team has considerable experience negotiating public safety radio systems, equipment, and services, with a proven track record of saving millions of dollars for our clients. In performing this contract, FE will:
- Participate in communications and other activities between Washoe County and the selected vendor
- Provide technical support throughout the negotiation and contracting process
- Provide technical expertise to identify areas with deficiencies, communicate these to both Washoe County and the selected vendor, and provide recommendations to correct the deficiencies to meet Washoe County’s requirements
- Review the selected vendor’s final technical and pricing documentation
FE will also be available to provide program management and implementation support during the next phase of this project.”
