Real Time Crime Center Contract Awarded to Federal Engineering By Gwinnett County
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, September 17, 2018 — Gwinnett County, Georgia, has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to assist with the analysis, design, and implementation of an advanced Real Time Crime Center.
Deputy Chief Brett West of the Gwinnett Police Department provided an overview: “Gwinnett County has selected Federal Engineering to conduct an on-site assessment toward the development of a Situational Awareness & Crime Response Center for the Department of Police Services. The assessment will include conducting stakeholder interviews, inventorying of current assets of the Department and participating partner agencies, the development of recommendations for a shared video management system solution, and the production of a scope of work for video and records management systems.”
Deputy Chief West continued: “The Gwinnett County Police Department is a nationally accredited and rapidly growing police agency located in the Northeastern quadrant of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Department currently has an authorized strength of 783 sworn officers supported by 280 civilian employees with the responsibility of providing law enforcement services to approximately 900,000 residents within an area of 436 square miles. The Department is organized into the Office of the Chief and two Bureaus with four Divisions: Administrative Services, Support Operations, Criminal Investigations, and Uniform Divisions. The Situational Awareness & Crime Response Center is a new initiative of the Department. It will be housed in the Support Operations Division and will interact with all divisions of the Department.”

- An estimated budget for the Situational Awareness & Crime Response Center project integration and long-term maintenance and replacement
- Recommend an enterprise architecture to link disparate databases and record management systems both internal and external to the department
- Identify a set of analytic tools that would allow the department to create, access, and share in real-time information such as graphical reports, video, audio, and dashboards
