Franklin Township Fire District 1 Awards Federal Engineering Contract for Public Safety Radio License Assistance

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, March 18, 2019 — Franklin Township, New Jersey Fire District 1 (District) has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to provide FCC licensing assistance for the District’s public safety radio system.

The District’s project manager, indicated: “We require technical support and sought a firm experienced in first responder mobile radio consulting. We want a firm that is well versed in frequency licensing and that we can rely on to assist with this important effort. A proposal was requested from Federal Engineering to assist in the filing and subsequent acquisition of two simplex radio channels and one repeater radio channel pair from the Region 8 Regional Planning Committee (RPC) for the purpose of supporting the District’s tactical operations. FE’s proposal met our needs at an affordable price.”

Mr. Scott Wiggins, FE Vice President, described the project: “To establish a solid basis for this licensing effort, FE will start by reviewing District provided documents and public information. We will review the 700 MHz RPC Region 8 plan and current frequency allocations to identify appropriate radio channels and channel pairs to apply for and to establish the requirements for an application package. FE will then develop a draft application package for two simplex 700 MHz radio channels and one repeater pair for RPC submission. We will review the draft application package with the District project team and deliver a final application package ready for submission to the Region 8 RPC.”

Mr. Wiggins continued: “FE will submit the developed application package to the Region 8 RPC and into CAPRAD through the appropriate web interface. We will attend a Region 8 RPC meeting in support of the application and generate responses to any RPC Members’ questions as necessary for review of the application package. FE will also be available to assist the District with negotiations/discussions required by the RPC to facilitate approval of the filing.”
