Federal Engineering to Update Utah Strategic Plan

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, December 11, 2023 – The State of Utah has chosen Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) to assist the Utah Communications Authority (UCA) in updating its strategic plans in accordance with Utah Code Ann. §63H-7a-206 and to provide strategic guidance for the Authority.

Ms. Tina Mathieu, Executive Director of UCA and Project Manager for the Authority gave an overview: “Federal Engineering is providing consulting services for multiple initiatives in Utah including statewide implementation of NG911 and a new statewide land mobile radio system. The firm was the obvious choice to assist us in updating our strategic plan.”

Ms. Mathieu continued: “The Utah Communications Authority is an independent state agency charged with providing administrative and financial support for statewide 911 emergency services and establishing and maintaining a statewide public safety communications network for state agencies, public safety agencies, and public safety answering points. More information about the Authority can be found at //le.utah.gov/xcode/Title63H/Chapter7A/63H-7a.html and www.uca911.org. As part of UCA’s statutory mandate, UCA is to “create, maintain, and review annually a statewide, comprehensive multiyear strategic plan, in consultation with state and local stakeholders, the PSAP advisory committee, and the public safety advisory committee, which coordinates UCA’s activities.”

Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, President & CEO of Federal Engineering said: “FE is thrilled to be chosen, once again, to provide technical consulting service to the State of Utah. Our diverse and detailed knowledge of the State is derived from years of support. FE’s approach to this project will involve frequent communications with UCA, focus group meetings/workshops with stakeholder agencies across the State and presentations and input from the Public Safety and PSAP Advisory Committees. Based on interviews and discussions with stakeholders, we will assess the current status of the strategic goals and objectives outlined in the 2021-2022 Strategic Plans, identify objectives that have been achieved and gaps that still remain, and define requirements for new strategic goals and objectives. Following extensive input and multiple review cycles, the outcome of the project will be the release of the updated 2023 Strategic Plans for Radio, 911, and Interoperability.”
