Federal Engineering To Provide Project Manager For Maryland Public Safety Communications System

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, February 21, 2012 — The State of Maryland has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a Task Order to provide a project manager for the State’s Public Safety Communications System, an interagency radio system being constructed using the State’s 700MHz frequency allocation.

This project is being directed by the Department of Information Technology under the guidance of the Interoperability Program Management Office (IMPO). The Federal Engineering project manager will report to the Department of Information Technology, and interface directly with the IMPO, radio equipment vendor, and stakeholders including State agencies and local governments.

Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President, described the contract: “Federal Engineering is a holder of the Maryland CATS II (Consulting and Technical Services II) Contract. Using this contract the State can retain FE for:

  • Enterprise Service Provider Analyses,
  • IT and Telecommunications Financial and Auditing Consulting Services,
  • IT Management Consulting Services,
  • Business Process Consulting Services,
  • Preparations for Proposed Tower Sites, and
  • Documentation/Technical Writing.

Under the current task order, the FE project manager will monitor the construction and integration of the radio system as well as the migration plans for each of the agencies that migrate to the new system. The FE PM will develop a comprehensive project management plan, create and maintain project documentation, respond to State IT project requests, and generate and maintain capital and operational budget documentation. The FE project manager will apply project management standards including the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) and manage the project to meet all milestones and deliverables. FE’s participation will ensure the project is executed on budget, on schedule, and that is meets the requirements of the stakeholders.”
