Federal Engineering to Assist Tioga County with Radio System Improvements
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, September 10, 2018 — Tioga County, New York has retained Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) to provide technical assistance and develop recommendations to improve the County’s public safety wireless infrastructure.
Mr. Mike Simmons, Tioga County Project Manager for Radio Communications Systems Enhancement, indicated: “Tioga County worked with a radio consultant in 2011. Despite making some upgrades to infrastructure and equipment, the County continues to experience system performance issues, specifically in coverage, capacity, interoperability, and paging/alerting and has turned to Federal Engineering to help resolve these problems. As the County’s radio consultant, FE will review the system analyses, needs assessments, and requirements definition reports from the County’s previous study. The firm will conduct investigations and recommend replacement, modification, or expansions as necessary to achieve acceptable mobile and portable radio coverage throughout Tioga County. Because of FE’s extensive experience and background, we are confident they can resolve our issues.”
Mr. Scott Wiggins, FE Vice President, stated: “Clearly, the County does not need another study that falls short of their needs. This project must “hit the mark” and deliver practical solutions that are affordable. Federal Engineering will apply FEPerformancePro™, a powerful toolset that accurately models radio network performance, to assess the Tioga network and determine performance gaps. We will then deliver FETeamCoverage™, a hands-on session that allows County participants to view the current system coverage and to immediately see the impacts of adding and/or deleting transmitter sites. FE pioneered the concept of a client-centric coverage workshop over a decade ago and numerous clients have enjoyed the benefits of this innovative approach. At the conclusion of the coverage workshop, we will leverage our experience with thousands of radio sites across the country and deliver a cost-effective plan to the County identifying enhancements to the existing system.”
