FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, January 22, 2010 — KTH Architects of Dubois PA has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to provide telecommunications and technology consulting for new bus terminals. Services will take this project from the initial needs assessment phase through installation and commissioning.
The Area Transportation Authority of North Central Pennsylvania plans to build three to five bus terminals throughout their region over the next five years. St Mary’s is the first terminal to be released for design and construction. Punxsutawney is the second terminal to be released for design and construction.
FE will design the following systems for the St Mary’s facility:
- Microwave link,
- Security- surveillance camera, card access and intrusion alarm sub-systems,
- Public Wi-Fi access points,
- Facility data and communications wiring,
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
FE will conduct a microwave link engineering study from the St Mary’s terminal location to the North Central Planning and Development Commission’s (NCPRPDC) Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN). The microwave studies will include preliminary path studies, map studies, site surveys to verify critical paths, and link budget engineering. FE’s design at the terminal will incorporate Wi-Fi system for public wireless access to the Internet.
