Federal Engineering Awarded Contract By Pitt County, North Carolina For Radio System Narrowbanding
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, March 23, 2010 — Pitt County, North Carolina has awarded Federal Engineering (FE) a contract to assist in migrating the County’s VHF public safety communications system to a narrowbanded radio system prior to the FCC deadline of January 1, 2013.
“Under this contract, FE will support the County from initial systems analysis through equipment procurement,” indicated Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President. “FE’s involvement will ensure that the County receives the optimum system for their investment; a system that meets the current and future needs of first responders.”
Mr. Bosco continued: “FE will assess the existing County systems and infrastructure to determine if they can support narrowbanding. We will also perform coverage analyses of the existing system and the envisioned narrowbanded system to determine what enhancements will be required to meet Pitt’s coverage needs. The project will culminate with the development of a request for proposal for the County to procure the necessary systems to meet the January 1, 2013 deadline.”
Mr. Noel Lee, Director of Pitt County Emergency Management said: “Multiple firms submitted proposals in response to our Request for Qualifications. Federal Engineering was selected based upon the following considerations:
- Performance on similar studies in the State of North Carolina and other states
- Experience of the firm and its proposed staff experience in similar studies
- The firm’s ability to meet the County’s time schedule for the study
- Proximity of the firm to Pitt County
- Financial ability of the firm to accomplish the work
- Cost of the work
In addition, FE’s references clearly demonstrated a long history of consistently exceeding client expectations.”
