Twin State Selects Federal Engineering For Radio Systems Consulting

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, May 4, 2011 — The Twin State Mutual Aid Fire Association has retained the services of Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) to assess their current and future communications needs and recommend the future course of mobile radio for the Association.

Mr. Tom Andross, Director of Communications for the Grafton County, New Hampshire Sheriff’s Department provided an overview of the project: “Twin State is made up of 26 fire departments and their associated Emergency Medical Service providers in New Hampshire and Vermont. The Association operates a shared mobile radio communications system for communicating with apparatus and personnel during emergency calls. Dispatching is contracted with the Grafton County Sheriff’s Department. The member departments and their dispatchers have identified several shortfalls in the current system including poor pager and portable coverage, channel overcrowding, and dispatch procedures complicated by the use of multiple transmitter sites. Twin State recognizes the need to plan for system operation and future developments and selected Federal Engineering to provide an independent evaluation of existing systems as well as provide a direction for future upgrades.”

Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President stated: “The needs of fire departments are unique. Our consultants, many of which have served in fire departments, are intimately familiar with the issues surrounding fire ground communications. FE has provided public safety communications consulting for many jurisdictions throughout the country similar in size to Twin State, including Essex County, NY; Pitt County, NC; King and Queen County, VA; Caroline County, VA; the Town of Florence, AZ; and numerous others. By involving FE in its radio communications project, Twin State is assured of a solution that is practical, cost effective, and can be implemented with a minimum of risk.”

FE provides a wide range of land mobile radio analysis, design, procurement support, and implementation management services for public safety, public service, transportation, and energy systems. The firm also provides security analyses, disaster recovery planning, strategic assessments, product analyses, market research, and business planning services in telecommunications and related fields.

As a nationwide communications systems planning and design firm, Federal Engineering develops voice, data, and video networks for a wide range of end users, including organizations in the aerospace, energy, finance, education, publishing, and computer services fields. In addition to its private sector work, FE has completed hundreds of communications projects for 30 state governments, as well as numerous local and federal government clients. FE’s certified independence ensures that clients receive objective, unbiased consulting services that are not influenced by any particular technology, product, vendor, or approach.
