State Of Iowa Retains Federal Engineering To Assist With BTOP Grant Application

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, June 25, 2010 — The State of Iowa has retained Federal Engineering, Inc.

(FE) to assist with the development of a broadband technology grant application.

Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President, described the contract: “As a 700 MHz waiver recipient, the State of Iowa will be applying for a grant for public safety broadband funds to serve the State. This entails completing the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) Comprehensive Community Infrastructure (CCI) Application and having it ready for submission by the July 1, 2010 deadline. Traditionally grant applications and the inherent support engineering have typically taken six months to a year to develop. The BTOP grant schedule has been significantly reduced to one month. Federal Engineering’s methodology will run multiple tasks in parallel in order to compress the schedule and achieve the desired results within the allotted timeframe.”

“We require technical support from a firm that has in-depth knowledge of our public safety communications needs and infrastructure. With under a month to deliver the grant application, there is no time to come up to speed,” indicated Captain Todd Misel of the Iowa Department of Public Safety. Captain Misel added: “Over the past two years, Federal Engineering has worked with the State of Iowa and developed a strong knowledge base regarding our public safety communications environment. The existing relationship the State has with FE allowed us to execute options in our existing contract that saved us a significant amount of valuable time.”

FE provides a wide range of land mobile radio analysis, design, procurement support, and implementation management services for public safety, public service, transportation, and energy systems. The firm also provides security analyses, disaster recovery planning, strategic assessments, product analyses, market research, and business planning services in telecommunications and related fields.

As a nationwide communications systems planning and design firm, Federal Engineering develops voice, data, and video networks for a wide range of end users, including organizations in the aerospace, energy, finance, education, publishing, and computer services fields. In addition to its private sector work, FE has completed hundreds of communications projects for 30 state governments, as well as numerous local and federal government clients. FE’s certified independence ensures that clients receive objective, unbiased consulting services that are not influenced by any particular technology, product, vendor, or approach.
