Niagara Region Chooses Federal Engineering for Next Generation 9-1-1 Consulting
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, July 12, 2021 – The Regional Municipality of Niagara, Canada (Niagara Region) has chosen Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) to provide consulting services for Public Safety Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) Communications.
EMS Chief Kevin Smith Project Manager for the Region described the project: “The Niagara Region Public Safety Communications Steering Committee consists of representatives from the following public agencies: Niagara Regional Police Service, St. Catharines Fire Service, Niagara Falls Fire Department, Niagara Parks Police Service, Niagara Region Emergency Medical Service, and the Niagara Region. The Committee’s intent is to realize a robust, integrated, and coordinated Canadian NG9-1-1 platform and solution where the Niagara Regional Police Service acts as the lead and overall systems integrator. Federal Engineering will provide recommendations for key integration solutions with each of the other Public Safety Access Point (PSAPs) to migrate from the current E9-1-1 call delivery systems to standards-based NG9-1-1 call delivery systems. Emergency Services IP Network (ESInet) and core services, along with logging and recording and GIS will also be included in this project. We are relying upon FE’s comprehensive experience with Canadian NG9-1-1 and Canadian E9-1-1 telephone systems. The firm’s detailed understanding of our goals, objectives, challenges, risks, and deliverables was clearly annunciated in their proposal.”
