NG9-1-1 Institute Board of Directors Elects Neil Horden, Federal Engineering Chief Consultant

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, October 12, 2017— The NG9-1-1 Institute has elected Mr. Neil Horden, Chief Consultant of Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE), to their Board of Directors filling one of the “Member at Large” positions. Mr. Horden’s term will run through September 2019.

The NG9-1-1 Institute assists the Congressional NextGen 9-1-1 Caucus by serving as a broad educational resource on issues important to the effective operation and advancement of NG9-1-1 services and systems. The objective of the NG9-1-1 Institute is to advance the rapid implementation of NG9-1-1 in order to promote more effective emergency response, improve public safety, and advance national security interests. The Institute works to educate Congressional Members and their staff on issues that may impact timely and effective NG9-1-1 implementation. Founded in 2003, the Institute continues to be a valued resource for Members of Congress and their staff. The NG9-1-1 Institute has members from throughout the nation including public safety officials, telecommunication and industry professionals, policy makers, academia, and concerned citizens.

Mr. Horden has been with Federal Engineering since 2004 and serves as Chief Consultant. He is a 35-year veteran of the wireless communications industry. Prior to joining Federal Engineering, he was a Technology Strategy Manager with Motorola’s Cellular Subscriber Division. While at Motorola, he held various roles in both the Land Mobile Products Sector and iDEN Subscriber division, including systems engineering, sales engineering, and product management.

Mr. Horden is a member of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), and the Radio Club of America (RCA). He is a member of the board of directors of the Project 25 Technology Interest Group (PTIG) where he served as their Program Manager from 2003 through 2009. In addition, he serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of MissionCritical Communications magazine, and the APCO Commercial Advisory Council. He also participates in National Public Safety Telecommunications (NPSTC) working groups, and on APCO standards development committees.
