Federal Engineering Selected by Collierville, Tennessee for LMR Consulting

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, January 13, 2025 – The Town of Collierville, Tennessee announced that they have awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to provide consulting services to assess the current landscape of their radio infrastructure and support radio system upgrades. Over the past decade, the Town has seen a substantial growth in population thus leading to a need for improved coverage for its public safety and public service radio users.

Assistant Chief David Townsend, Collierville Police Department, explained: “Nearly ten years ago, the Town of Collierville deployed a single-site 700 MHz P25 system that satisfied the needs of the Town at that time. However, as the Town and its surrounding areas continue to grow, the Town requires a system review and alternatives analysis to determine the best approach for enhancing coverage while maximizing prior investments and minimizing the total cost of ownership (TCO). Federal Engineering has been selected to provide this analysis.”

“At the Town’s request, FE will evaluate several alternatives, analyzing the pros and cons of each, and identify the most feasible, cost-effective option for the Town. FE will deliver conceptual designs for each alternative, including coverage, TCO, advantages, and challenges, and will present their findings to the designated Town stakeholders.” concluded Chief Townsend.

FE’s Vice President of their LMR/Wireless practice, Mr. Brad Barber, stated: “With FE progressing into its fifth decade of service to public safety, we continue to assist our clients in assessing the current landscape of their radio infrastructures and support radio system upgrades through successful implementations. FE experts have worked on virtually every type of system in hundreds of Fire/EMS and law enforcement settings. We offer an in depth understanding of legacy analog, P25, DMR, and emerging wireless communication technologies serving dispatch centers, police, fire, EMS, public works, schools, and other disciplines.”

“Our subject matter experts have hands-on experience in numerous projects throughout their tenure with FE. Our teams have worked on projects that involve standalone LMR upgrades as well as strategic planning for migrations to regional systems. These projects encompass needs assessment, requirements definition, alternatives analysis, upgrade recommendations, conceptual designs, procurement, and implementation support. FE experts provide technical advice and guide each client through the challenges of determining the right upgrade path for their unique circumstances.” Mr. Barber added.
