Federal Engineering Awarded Implementation Support Contract From Essex County, New York
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, July 28, 2010 — Essex County, New York has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a multiyear consulting contract to support the procurement and implementation of its new public safety mobile radio system. FE’s participation will encompass both the radio system and the infrastructure to support it.
Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President, provided an overview of this project” “Essex County has recently completed a high- level design of a P25 Digital, Conventional, Multicast Radio System and executed a contract with Motorola for the system. The County must now procure site improvements in preparation for the implementation of the new radio system. The County has awarded a contract to Federal Engineering to review its draft RFP for Public Safety Radio Communications System Civil Engineering and Site Development Proposal. In addition, FE will provide evaluation support for the proposals received in response to the RFP and assist in contract negotiations with the selected contractor.”
Mr. Bosco continued: “Federal Engineering will also provide implementation support services for both the site improvements and for the radio system taking this project from the initial planning phases through implementation and testing. FE will verify that the County needs are met within the agreed upon schedule and for the projected budget. By involving FE early in a project, proper planning will take place before major commitments are made. Most importantly, FE implementation support ensures the highest level of visibility for County management thereby eliminating virtually all “surprises” and creating a proactive management environment.”
“Planning and implementing today’s public safety communications networks are complex endeavors,” indicated Mr. Donald Jaquish, Director of Emergency Services for Essex County. “The successful coordination of a multitude of vendors requires a rigorous methodology. Federal Engineering was selected based upon the firm’s many years of experience and familiarity with the New York public safety communications environment.”
Federal Engineering provides a wide range of design and management services in public safety involving VHF, UHF, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz and 4.9GHz communications systems. FE also assists in the design and implementation of PSAPs, ECCs, and EOCs.
