Colorado Awards Federal Engineering Contract to Evaluate Statewide Digital Radio System
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, February 17, 2015 —Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) was awarded a contract to evaluate the statewide digital trunked radio (DTR) system and assess the impacts of the current and future needs of first responders by the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
Mr. Jack D. Cobb, Statewide Interoperability Coordinator for DHSEM said: “The State determined that Federal Engineering’s proposal was the most advantageous to the State.”
Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President, provided a summary of the program: “FE will perform a complete evaluation of the statewide DTR system, conduct a system-wide needs assessment, and develop a business plan to help guide future development, system maintenance, interoperability with disparate systems, and DTR sustainability. FE will deliver two essential reports as a result: a System-Wide Needs Assessment and a System-Wide Business Plan. The purpose of the System-Wide Needs Assessment is to determine current and future public safety communication needs in Colorado and how they may impact the statewide DTR network as well as how they may impact interoperability with other non- DTR systems operating in Colorado. The System – Wide Business Plan will clearly communicate, to the State’s Joint Budget Committee and other key stakeholders, the business goals and objectives, short and long -term cost projections, financial activities, and administrative items. DTR has been a successful program and we recognize the importance of these two reports to the sustainability and evolution of DTR to meet future needs.”
