City of Iqaluit Chooses Federal Engineering for Dispatch Systems Requirements Study
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, October 18, 2021 – The City of Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada has chosen Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) to develop a Dispatch Systems Requirements Study encompassing Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD), Records Management System (RMS), and radio networking.
The City’s request for proposal provided an overview of its requirements. Iqaluit is the capital of the Nunavut Territory and is located at the south end of Baffin Island. The City is the newest Capital City in Canada and has experienced a period of rapid development and growth. Iqaluit is the seat of government for the Territory of Nunavut and is the home base for many federal and territorial government departments. The City is a regional center for the Territory with many northern businesses in Inuit organizations making it their base of operations. To continue to meet the public safety needs of our growing City, Iqaluit is seeking a consulting firm to investigate, provide an options analysis and design new CAD, RMS, and radio systems. These new systems will support the following City departments:
- Municipal enforcement
- Afterhours public works
- Alarm monitoring
- Contracted Government of Nunavut (GN) after hours dispatch
The City seeks to transition to a highly reliable, integrated CAD/RMS that will improve users’ overall access to information and benefit from advanced functionality with a modern system architecture. Additionally, the City seeks to implement a new radio system that will be compatible with the new CAD and RMS systems.
