Camden Country Selects Federal Engineering as Communications Consultant

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, September 8, 2015 — Camden County, GA has selected Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) to assist the County with the needs analysis, procurement support, and implementation support required to upgrade or replace the existing public safety VHF radio system.

Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President, described the project: “Federal Engineering will conduct a Needs Assessment to determine:

  • Capacity requirements to support current and future operations
  • Functional requirements for all user departments
  • Current and future interoperability requirements
  • Coverage and capacity requirements

We will also analyze relevant data regarding the current system including the radio infrastructure, existing sites, subscriber units and accessories, backhaul, and dispatch systems. FE will then establish requirements for:

  • System reliability and redundancy to ensure maximum availability
  • FCC and other regulatory compliance
  • Interfaces to other systems
  • System migration and transition
  • Operations and maintenance

We will document our findings in a Needs Assessment and Alternatives Report containing multiple solutions with estimated costs and timelines. FE will also be available to assist the County with the preparation of materials and presentations to the County Commission and stakeholders. In addition, FE will provide procurement support services should the County decide to move forward.”

Mr. Bill Carreira, Information Technology Director for the City of Kingsland and manager for this project said:

“Our request for proposal required a great deal of consultant requirements including:

  • A minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience with similar projects
  • Previous system design, replacement, or upgrade experience that is similar in both size and scope
  • NG9-1-1 project experience
  • Previous experience with TDM, MPLS, and IP based microwave systems
  • Sufficient qualified full-time, employee staff available to complete the project
  • Extensive planning, procurement, implementation, testing and cutover experience with standards-based P25 Conventional and P25 Trunked Systems
  • Previous experience with both sole-source and competitive procurements for system design, replacement, or upgrades

We received multiple proposals and Federal Engineering’s proposal clearly met or exceeded all of our requirements.”
