San Mateo Awards Federal Engineering Contract for Microwave and Land Mobile Radio Support
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, April 15, 2024 – The County of San Mateo (County), California has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to provide for specialized project management and subject matter expert consulting services for a countywide microwave upgrade and other land mobile radio projects.
Mr. Al David, ISD Division Manager for the County said: “The County requires a firm that meets the following required qualifications:
- A strong working knowledge of the telecommunications industry, specifically Aviat or Nokia microwave, microwave site requirements, repeater placement requirements, as well as experience with ASTRO 25 Motorola Land Mobile Radio deployments.
- A minimum of five years’ microwave installation/construction project management experience to include frequency management and propagation experience.
- Registered and in good standing with sam.gov.
We chose Federal Engineering because they met or exceeded all our requirements.”
Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, President & CEO of Federal Engineering provided a vignette of the project: “FE will provide subject matter expertise and a project management support for overall project execution including working with the County chosen microwave vendor and their radio system manufacturer, Motorola. We will conduct upgrade planning, liaison, design services, factory coordination and overall technical consulting. In addition, final path surveys, FCC Part 101 frequency coordination, internal project management, hardware, software, and integration/conversion consulting, installation inspections, training, and warranty services management as described will be provided. FE will act as the County advocate throughout the project to assess that the chosen microwave upgrade vendor is acting in accordance with best practices and consistently minimizing radio system user impacts when engaging in and completing project tasks.”
