Federal Engineering Awarded Contract By Pittsylvania County, Virginia For Radio Engineering Consulting

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, July 12, 2010 — Pittsylvania County, Virginia has awarded Federal Engineering (FE) a one year contract to assist the County in upgrading their VHF public safety communications system in anticipation of the FCC’s narrowbanding deadline of January 1, 2013.

“Under this contract, FE will conduct a needs assessment of first responders, provide a conceptual system design, and deliver management and administrative services to Pittsylvania County Emergency Management and Communications,” indicated Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President. “The design will leverage existing investments in communications equipment, backhaul networks, and towers to build a multi-discipline public safety radio communications network for voice and possibly data. FE will then implement the recommended strategic plan by working with the Interoperable Project Management Team to generate a request for proposals and select a vendor to provide a Project 25 standards based communications network. FE will also provide implementation support services to ensure the coordination, upgrade, enhancement and integration of communications and backhaul systems.”

Mr. Jim Davis, Interoperability Program Director for Pittsylvania County, stated: “Several firms responded to our Request for Proposals with credible submissions. Federal Engineering was selected based upon their understanding of our needs, project approach, proven methodology, proposed organization, and reasonableness of their proposed schedule. In addition, the recent experiences of their staff, professional qualifications, and staff availability played an important role in our decision. Lastly, FE’s experience with similar projects and reference checks which indicated a consistent adherence to schedules, deadlines, and budgets were the final factors that influenced our decision.”

Federal Engineering provides a wide range of design and management services in public safety involving VHF, UHF, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz and 4.9GHz communications systems. The firm also assists in the design and implementation of PSAPs, ECCs, and EOCs.

As a nationwide communications systems planning and design firm, Federal Engineering develops voice, data, and video networks for a wide range of end users, including organizations in the aerospace, energy, finance, education, publishing, and computer services fields. In addition to its private sector work, FE has completed hundreds of communications projects for 30 state governments, as well as numerous local and federal government clients.
