Chautauqua County Awards Federal Engineering Public Safety Radio Consulting Contract

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, June 1, 2011 — Chautauqua County, New York has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to evaluate the County’s current radio systems, assess interoperability and narrowbanding needs, and determine the best options for moving forward.

Joseph A. Gerace, the Chautauqua County Sheriff said: “Federal Engineering was chosen, via a competitive procurement process, because of their extensive public safety communications background. The firm understands our unique needs having experience with many county radio systems in New York. Chautauqua chose Federal Engineering because we felt the firm to be most advantageous to the County giving consideration to not only cost but experience, their proposed plan, the firm’s ability to complete the work on time. We look forward to working with Federal Engineering to improve mobile communications for our first responders.”

Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President, summarized the program: “In light of meeting the National Emergency Communication Plan interoperability goals and the fast approaching deadline for narrowbanding, it is imperative to evaluate the existing County radio systems that support the Sheriff, Local Police, Fire, EMS, Local Governments, Rural Transportation and Schools.
