Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon Awards Federal Engineering Contract for Public Safety Radio System Design Consulting Services
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, November 28, 2016 — Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to provide Public Safety Radio System Design Consulting Services.
Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President and CEO, described the project, “ECSO currently operates a series of disparate VHF radio systems that provide voice communications for police, fire, and EMS. The current systems were not designed and built as a countywide or regional network supporting multiple disciplines but has become one over time. ECSO intends to replace this system with one that is:
• | County wide | • | VHF |
• | IP based | • | Voted |
• | P25 phase 2 compliant | • | Trunked simulcast |
Federal Engineering will develop the specific technological approach and define how ECSO will make this transition from the current communication system to the new system with minimal operational down time.”
Mr. Bosco continued: “The project shall consist of two phases:
- Phase I Assessment of subscriber communication needs and inventory.
- Phase II Recommended solution(s) and conceptual System design.
This approach ensures that the radio users’ needs are met and provides good visibility to ECSO management throughout the process.”
Ms. Margie Moulin, ECSO Director, stated: “ECSO issued an RFP for consulting services to support the upgrade of our public safety radio system. We evaluated all responses to our RFP based on the following criteria: General Qualifications, Experience and Technical Qualifications, Project Approach and Proposed Solution, Cost, and Schedule Considerations. Federal Engineering was selected because their proposal demonstrated a wealth of successful experience and the best value for ECSO. FE’s industry reputation and references in Oregon and other states served to confirm our selection.”
