Henry County Awards Federal Engineering Contract for Radio System Consulting Services

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, May 4, 2015 — Henry County, GA has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to provide technology consulting services in support of the upgrade of the County’s public safety mobile communications infrastructure. FE will take this project from initial planning through cutover of the new systems.

Mr. Don Ash, E911/EMA Director for the Henry County Emergency Center, said: “We were very pleased to receive 13 proposals in response to our RFP for radio consulting services. Our evaluation committee reviewed, scored, and ranked the proposals, the three top scored firms were interviewed and Federal Engineering was determined to be ranked with the highest score. The evaluation committee was impressed by Federal Engineering’s capabilities, background, and reputation and we look forward to working with the firm.”

Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, Federal Engineering’s President, described the project: “Henry County currently has an 800MHz Simulcast radio system. The County desires to transition in a P25 public safety radio system with improved coverage in the 700 MHz and 800 MHz bands. This project will be completed in three phases:

  • Phase I – Analysis and Recommendation o Assess current systems
    • Perform coverage analyses
    • Develop short-term and long-term recommendations o Explore funding options and assist with grants
  • Phase II – System Procurement
    • Develop radio system RFP
    • Attend bidders’ conference
    • Assist with proposal evalutions
  • Phase III – Implementation
    • Provide program management services
    • Review vendor designs
    • Inspect facilities and observe testing

FE’s participation will ensure that the vendor end product meets the County’s requirements.”

Most recently, FE has expanded its service offerings to support FirstNet planning in anticipation of the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network.
