Federal Engineering Selected by Cape Girardeau for Police and Fire Services Radio Project

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, July 11, 2016 — The City of Cape Girardeau, MO has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a consulting contract to assist in the analysis, design, procurement, and implementation of a new Public Safety Radio System for Police and Fire Services.

Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President and CEO, provided an overview of the project: “The City of Cape Girardeau currently owns and operates both VHF simplex and duplex communications systems for the Police Department and Fire Department. The systems also support secondary users including Southeast Missouri State University Police, Jackson Police and Fire, Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and other surrounding law enforcement and fire agencies.”

Mr. Bosco continued: “The City desires to upgrade to an APCO P25 standards-based trunked radio system. The upgrade will leverage existing investments, where possible, including current towers and other equipment to minimize costs while maximizing the future benefits to radio system users. FE’s expertise and guidance will ensure no disruption to the City’s radio communications during the upgrade process.”

Mr. John R. Davis, Lieutenant/Auxiliary Services Division Command, indicated: “Cape Girardeau went through a rigorous procurement process. The City conducted a thorough assessment of bidder proposals and went beyond the references provided by the bidders. We contacted others in the industry and found Federal Engineering to have a superior reputation and consistently exceeds its clients’ expectations. The City retained the services of Federal Engineering based upon their 33+ years of experience with similar projects. FE’s proposal demonstrated the firm’s qualifications to produce the required outcomes including its ability, capacity, skill, and financial strength. We look forward to FE’s participation in this very important project.”
