Federal Engineering Awarded Contract by Arapahoe County for Radio Consolidation Project

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, February 12, 2024 – Officials of Arapahoe County, Colorado announced that they have entered into an agreement with Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) for a Regional Radio Consolidation Project to be performed on behalf of the North Central Region (NCR) All-Hazards Emergency Management Region.

Mr. Scott Kellar, North Central Region Homeland Security Director stated: “The purpose of the North Central Region Radio Consolidation project is to develop information for potential radio systems consolidation within the North Central Region (NCR) and how this can potentially impact existing radio systems operations, operability, and interoperability. This project is intended to identify potential joint, multi-jurisdictional governance options designed to support and manage a shared radio network for the NCR.” Mr. Kellar further explained that: “The NCR is organized around ten counties and their cities, districts, towns, and municipalities. With over three million citizens, the NCR has the largest population in the state and covers an area of 6,898 square miles.”

Mr. Rajit Jhaver, Director at FE, affirmed that: “The scope of work for this contract will consist of six deliverables that address the potential for merging existing communications systems within the NCR in order to optimize overall performance measures including operations, costs, and simplicity. Federal Engineering shall provide the Region with the following reports:

  1. Region Wide Radio System Inventory
  2. Radio Systems Architecture and Design Elements
  3. Radio System Financial Analysis
  4. Options for Consolidation and/or Shared Governance of Radio Systems
  5. Analysis of Proposed Consolidation Options
  6. Summary Report of Consolidation Analysis”

Mr. Jhaver concluded: “FE has successfully completed thousands of radio projects for city, county, regional, state, and multi-agency projects nationwide, including the City and County of Denver, the State of Colorado, Routt County, the City of Longmont, and the Denver Regional Transportation District, as well as projects in neighboring states including Oklahoma, New Mexico, Wyoming, Arizona, and Utah.”
