Federal Engineering Selected by The State of New Mexico for Public Safety Technology Strategic Planning
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, November 19, 2014 — The State of New Mexico has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to provide technical assistance in determining the future direction of statewide public safety communications.
Ronald F. Bosco, Federal Engineering’s President, described the project: “The statewide public safety land mobile radio system has outlived its useful life and requires modernization to meet operational and interoperability requirements of public safety users. The scope of this project is to conduct a comprehensive assessment and gap analysis in order to develop an implementation plan to provide mission critical public safety land mobile radio services augmented by new backhaul and broadband systems.”
Mr. Bosco, continued: “This comprehensive project encompasses multiple phases including a Capabilities Assessment of current systems, a Need Assessment of first responders’ current and future requirements, a Strategic Plan recommending a future path, and a top level Systems Design of the recommended approach. FE will consideration the:
- Statewide land mobile radio system project
- Digital Microwave background project
- Long Term Evolution (LTE) broadband initiative
- Next Generation 911 (NG9-1-1) initiative
- CAD/RMS enhancements
FE’s plan will include recommendations for staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and project management.”

FE also assists in the design and implementation of E911, PSAPs, ECCs, and EOCs.
