Fauquier, Rappahannock, and Culpeper Counties Select Federal Engineering for Regional Public Safety Radio Communications Upgrade
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, January 20, 2015 — a consortium of Fauquier County, VA, Culpeper County, VA and Rappahannock County, VA (the Counties) have awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to provide technology consulting services in support of the upgrade of a regional public safety mobile communications system to be shared by the three counties.
Ms. Susan Monaco, Procurement Manager for Fauquier County Government and Public Schools stated: “The Counties have shared public safety communications assets for some time now. We continue to work together as we upgrade our communications infrastructure and released a joint RFP to solicit consulting services. Because of the broad nature of this project covering multiple counties, we sought a firm that has deep experience with regional programs especially here in the Commonwealth. Federal Engineering was chosen because of the firm’s proposal which clearly demonstrated the background we were looking for.”
Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President, described the project: “FE will assess user requirements and based upon them, generate technical specifications for incorporation into a request for proposal. FE will then evaluate vendor proposals against technical specifications and assist the county in selecting an equipment vendor. We will also be available to support contract negotiations should the need arise.”
Mr. Bosco continued: “FE will provide project management and technical support through the detailed design and implementation phases of the upgrade project. We will also support activities related to FCC licensing and regulatory issues and provide radio technical expertise throughout the life of the project.”
Federal Engineering provides a wide range of design and management services in public safety and public service communications involving LTE as well as traditional VHF, UHF, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz and 4.9GHz mobile radio systems. FE also assists in the design and implementation of NG9-1-1, PSAPs, ECCs, and EOCs. Since 1983, FE has completed thousands of communications projects for 40 state governments, as well as numerous local and federal government clients. In addition to its public sector work, Federal Engineering provides design and implementation support services for voice, data, and video networks used in the transportation, utilities, aerospace, finance, education, publishing, and computer services industries.
