Jacobs Project Management Co. Awards Federal Engineering LA-RICS Technical Support Contract
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, February 27, 2017 — Jacobs Project Management Co. (Jacobs) has chosen to continue its multiyear contract with Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) to provide implementation support for the Los Angeles Regional Interoperable Communications System (LA-RICS) project.
Mr. Chris Odenthal, Jacobs LA-RICS Program Manager, stated: “Federal Engineering has been providing technical assistance for several years now. They were instrumental in supporting the systems procurement process and in vendor contract negotiations. We value FE’s continued participation from a team cohesion perspective as well as their understanding of Programs’ complexities.”
Mr. Ronald F. Bosco, FE’s President and CEO, said: “We are pleased that Jacobs has extended our contract in support of this historic project to bring the latest communications technologies to first responders in the Los Angeles area. Working with Jacobs, FE will provide experienced and dedicated resources to assist in the planning, designing, developing, supplying, fabricating, constructing, installing, testing, deploying, commissioning, training, and maintenance necessary for the successful completion of the LA-RICS project. FE will visit in-progress and completed LA-RICS transmission sites to evaluate the telecommunications system contractor’s construction methodologies and practices in the conduct of the LA- RICS site builds. Further, FE will assist in ensuring that the telecommunications system contractor follows industry best practices in the construction of LA-RICS facilities.”
Mr. Bosco expanded on the work to be performed: “FE’s technical support team will assist with the following:
- Review and assess the LA-RICS project’s system architecture, design criteria, and standards
- Review architectural, technical, and engineering documents for accuracy constructability, compliance with project technical requirements, and value engineering
- Evaluate and make recommendations on changes in scope of work
- Develop a Quality Assurance/Quality Control plan
- Conduct quality control/quality assurance inspections and provide reports
- Manage, coordinate, and validate systems acceptance criteria”
